We looked at the numerous compressors and condensers used for central air conditioning, but what about the ducts? Simply stated, a vent is a pipe that brings cooled air into your home from the daikin ducted air conditioning unit, and can also expel hot or stale air. Central air conditioning ducts can also be used for heating and cooling systems. Let’s take a look at some of the various types of ducts used for air conditioning.

Adjustable Ductworks

Flexible ducts are usually tube-shaped, consisting of a wire coil covered with a folding, durable plastic and covered by insulation. This kind of ducting is better achieved in tricky spaces where rigid ducts cannot be mounted or used to connect non-flexible ductwork to an air supply outlet. For other central daikin ducted air conditioning components, compact ducts have unique installation specifications. Flexible ductwork, for example, has to be well-secured and supported, allowing no sagging or snaking. Kinks, twists and turns will need to be minimised – they limit the flow of air and could impede the performance and efficiency of the air conditioner. The benefits of flexible ducts are that they are relatively simple and convenient to build and also cost less than rigid ductwork. You will read more about lightweight ducts and their installation instructions from the air conditioning maintenance specialists.

Rigid Ductworks

They come in a range of textures and shapes and can be either cylindrical or rectangular. They are also alone, too. They’re rugged, durable, and reliable. The most popular forms of rigid ductworks are:

Metal sheet ducts

This is the sort of ducts you’ve seen in movies—usually of an action hero crawling through them! Galvanized steel and aluminium are the most common materials used for sheet metal daikin ducted air conditioning system. In specific, aluminium is relatively light and easy to mount. They are also the least dangerous to have harmful moulds or growths because they are non-porous surfaces.

Fibreglass coated ducts.

These are sheet metal ducts (like those mentioned above) with internal or external fibreglass liners. This type of duct is popular in office and industrial buildings as it dampens the sound of the daikin ducted air conditioning unit. However, fibreglass in these ducts may worsen and eventually release fibreglass particles into the air – a major health concern, particularly with long-term exposure. Fibreglass lined ducts are also hard to clean for the same reason: the cleaning process can damage the liner and release the fibres.

Fibreglass ducts.

Fiberboard is made of fibreglass strands that have been compressed and bonded to the resin and then covered with a sheet of laminate foil to protect them from moisture. This type of daikin ducted air conditioning duct is excellent for cooling and heating systems because it is well insulated on its own. However, it is not recommended for ventilation because, like fibreglass-lined ducts, they can become a breeding ground for mould and mildew in humid climates.

When configuring an air conditioning system, consult your daikin ducted air conditioning technician to find out which type of duct is best suited to your home or office. More often than not, sheet metal is the safest and most efficient material for the production of ductwork.
